Romans 12:9-10
Have you ever experienced someone being nice to you, only to find out they were really just trying to get something from you? Or a time when someone pretended to be your friend, only to turn around and hurt you? Do you know what's even better than being nice to people? Being nice to people and REALLY meaning it! It sounds simple, but authenticity is not always the default human response. But as Christians, we are called to more than just act nice to people. We are called to genuinely love others! We should despise evil--want nothing to do with it--run as far as you can from it. Remember, we're not just showing kindness to check a box and get on God's good side. We are loving others out of an abundance of the love that Christ has for us.
PASSAGE: Romans 12:9-10 - "Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one
another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor."
PAUSE: A transformed life is a genuine life. We love others like Jesus. Paul tells us our love should be maskless. We need to have an authentic love for one another. The goal of a transformed life is to make others better by loving them.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help my love for others to be genuine and real. Allow me to hold on to what is good about others and life.
