Acts 1:14

American Christians are often guilty of turning the spiritual life into a solo sport. And this is a tragic mistake! It is incredible how much the early church lived life together and how much we tend to live life apart. Imagine going before Christ’s throne of grace in the community of like-minded sisters and brothers. Seeking Him together, not just for the latest list of physical needs, but also for the spiritual growth of our families and dear friends, for the salvation of those in our lives who don’t yet know the love and forgiveness and new life in Jesus. Of course, there is the need for personal, private prayer with our Father. Jesus Himself modeled this. But where and with whom are you “joining together constantly in prayer?” This might be a missing piece that could breathe new life into your intimacy with God.

PASSAGE: Acts 1:14 - "They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers."

PAUSE: The early church was built upon oneness. They lived in one accord with Christ Jesus and with each other. They devoted themselves to prayer. What we think and believe about Christ determines our thoughts and behaviors. Stop and reflect this week. What are your thoughts about Christ?

PRAYER: Father, thank you for the gift of oneness. Grant me the ability to be in one accord with my church family. Create in me a devotion to pray with others.
