Philippians 4:5

Did you know that all Christians are to be known for their gentleness? Remember, this is a fruit of the Spirit. It’s sad that many believers have a reputation for being pushy or harsh or selfish. Think about a difficult situation going on in your life. Maybe you are tempted to take control to make sure you get the outcome you want. Maybe you feel tempted to turn up the pressure or the volume of your voice. Or possibly your mind is set on revenge rather than forgiveness. What would it look like for you to draw near to the Lord and ask Him for His gentleness instead? A gentleness that flows from knowing He is in control. A gentleness that brings a calmness to the situation that allows you to listen well and respond with love and wisdom.

PASSAGE: Philippians 4:5 - "Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near."

PAUSE: The Lord’s presence is what calms our anxious thoughts. The Lord is near both in his presence and in his return. Knowing that the Lord is always with us and that he is coming soon is the pause we need today. He is near!

PRAYER: Father, thank you for the promise that you will never leave us nor forsake us. Lord, I desire to draw near to your presence, draw near to me!
