2 Corinthians 3:5

The modern American version of Christianity is absolutely upside down! We get our identity and our life agenda from the things of this world and then we ask the Lord to bless it all. But the biblical reality is that we are to die to ourselves, to our old identity and agenda, and live whole-heartedly out of our new identity in Christ Jesus and for His kingdom agenda. New identity leads to new agenda. We are all now ministers of the new covenant reality. Christ says that He saves us and remakes us in His image and calls us to go share the good news of the gospel with a lost and hurting world. And then He supplies us with the power to do so by giving us His life-giving Spirit!

PASSAGE: 2 Corinthians 3:5 - "Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God" (see 3:4-6)

PAUSE: The Apostle Paul tried to calm the fears and insecurities of the early believers by reminding them of who they were in Christ Jesus. In Christ, we are secure and significant not because of us, but solely because of Christ Jesus. Stop and ask yourself, where do you find your sufficiency? Is it in you or HIM?

PRAYER: Father, forgive me for the times I feel inadequate and suddenly become overwhelmed with life. Help me to find my sufficiency in you alone.
