1 Peter 5:6-7

When I get busy, I feel the urge to tough it out and just push through. I let thoughts and anxieties swirl in my head, and it can sometimes feel like an endless loop playing over and over in my mind with the things I need to get done. When I rely on my own strength, I will undoubtedly begin to feel overwhelmed. But God doesn't want us to feel that way. He wants us to lean on Him so He can shoulder our burdens. If you are feeling anxiety or overwhelmed, I would encourage you to make a list. Write down the things that are swirling in your head, and then release that to God. Sometime when I put pencil to paper, I realize the list wasn't as long as I thought, but when I let the thoughts swirl in my head they seemed to multiply because I was thinking about them on repeat. Cast ALL your anxieties to God, and then reflect on your list over time to see how He has worked in your life!

PASSAGE: 1 Peter 5:6-7 - "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."

PAUSE: Peter, one of Jesus’s disciples encouraged us to take all of our cares, worries, and anxieties and to give them up to our Heavenly Father. When we cast these cares, we show true humility and the trust we have in our Father.

PRAYER: Father, humble me and forgive me. I want to trust you with my thoughts, grant me the courage to give you all of my thoughts today.
