John 14:8-9
PASSAGE: John 14:8-9 - "Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?"
PAUSE: The clearest revelation God has given us of Himself happened when He sent His Son, God taking on flesh, to show the world the character, power, and plan of the Father. But so many Jews in Jesus' day missed seeing who Jesus truly was--the Son of God, God Himself. Even Philip, after spending so much time with him could not see that Jesus was the direct revelation of God. Many in the world today are crafting God in their own minds because they are living with a limited or twisted view of Jesus. By ignoring Scripture, they are missing who the Father really is. My hope and prayer for all of us is that we will spend time in God's word to see the real Jesus revealed to this world and recorded for us to know. By spending time in Scripture and seeing Jesus, we will truly know our good and loving Heavenly Father.
PRAYER: Father, Jesus said that if we have seen Him, we have seen You! Praise You for going to such great lengths to show us who You really are and what You are up to in the world You created for Your own glory! Amen.
