Luke 8:15

Your heart is the most important thing about you! God created your heart for Himself to reside in. Your heart is the center out of which your thoughts, feelings, and your volition (capacity to make choices) flow. Blaise Pascal famously wrote: “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every person which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.” But because of sin, the heart seeks to find life in anything other than God. So we, as Christians, must keep diligent watch over our hearts. Even as believers, our hearts are prone to wonder off from God. Ask yourself today, “Is my heart open to receive God and His Word for me today? Am I ready to seek, understand, and by faith, put into practice, whatever He has for me?”

PASSAGE: Luke 8:15 - As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.

PAUSE: The parable of the four soils describes four types of hearts. The path represents a hard heart, the rocky soil represents a shallow heart, the thorny soil represents a busy heart, but the good soil represents a good heart. Review the parable and ask God for a healthy heart that multiplies growth.

PRAYER: Father, cultivate my heart! Help me to grow spiritually and relationally. Create in me a clean heart that is healthy and strong.
