Isaiah 53:6
Have you ever closed your eyes and tried walking in a straight line? I have, and it didn't go well! No matter how well it feels like you're doing, it's so easy to lose your sense of direction and end up wandering off track. Straying from God's path is a lot like walking with our eyes closed. We feel like we'll be able to do it on our own. But inevitably, we wander off track. Now think of a time when someone asked you to close your eyes for a secret, and they led you by the hand. You may have been nervous to bump into something, but you were able to walk the path with confidence, trusting they would lead you safely. Friends, if you find yourself wandering off the path, allow Jesus to lead you by the hand. Allow other Christ followers to come alongside you and guide you back to the path. We need Jesus because we all wander like sheep without Him!
PASSAGE: Isaiah 53:6 -
"All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
the sins of us all."
PAUSE: Our hearts are prone to wander from the God we love. From the time that we were born until this day, we tend to go astray. Thankfully, the Lord laid upon Christ all our wanderings and forgave us. Please help us remain humble and realize our natural tendency is to wander. Stay close to the Shepherd.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, keep me close to You. As I start to wander away, bring into my life a friend or stranger who will direct me back to You.
