Colossians 1:9-11
I don’t think we realize just how much sin distorts and twists God’s truth and God’s ways! The enemy is always at work in the world taking God’s revealed word and perverting it. And because every believer still walks through life with a sin nature still battling for control, we tend to approach life with a “me first” mentality. And this often prevents us from making wise decisions and from loving others well. The remedy to all this is the gift of spiritual wisdom that aligns with the will of God. And this gift from God is ours for the ASKING! This spiritual wisdom flows to us in answer to surrendered, humble prayer. This spiritual wisdom will always take us down the path of living out the Great Commandment to ‘Love God and Love others” in specific and sacrificial ways!
PASSAGE: Colossians 1:9-11 - And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.
PAUSE: We all need wisdom, but only Christians can possess spiritual wisdom. In the age of Google and relativism, we can find answers to almost any question or difficulty. But knowing the Lord’s will and following it requires spiritual wisdom. Take a moment today to ask for spiritual wisdom this week.
PRAYER: Father, forgive me for trying to use worldly wisdom to solve the difficulties that come my way. Help me to know Your will and to follow it.
