Romans 6:11

The Christian life is an intentional life! Everyday there is a calculation to be made. Christ’s death for us and thus, our death to sin is an absolute game changer. Each day we are commanded to consciously, intentionally, count ourselves to be dead to sin. This is the daily recognition that today sin has no rightful authority in my life! Sin’s power has been broken, defeated. It is the daily recommitment that “today Lord I am saved and set apart for the purpose of living all out for Your glory!”  Friend, do not just drift through your days unengaged! Do not just let sin fester in your life by feeding it. But rather, count yourself to be dead to sin in Christ! And then get busy living the new life God has called you to! The eternal, abundant, beautiful life that began the moment you first believed in Jesus!

PASSAGE: Romans 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

PAUSE: Baptism is a powerful illustration of the fact that we have died to the power of sin in our lives and that we have been resurrected to a new power of life. Every day we should remind ourselves that we are dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Sin should no longer reign in our lives; we are dead to it! 

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I rejoice in your grace. I rejoice in the Gospel that has allowed me to crossover from death to life. I present myself to you, today.
