1 Corinthians 15:3-4
The bad news for all humanity is that each of us has rebelliously turned our backs on God (sinned) and each of us has gone our own way! The bad news gets even worse. Because God is perfectly holy, our sin causes us to be separated from God (spiritual death). But because God is not only perfectly holy but also perfectly loving, He set His good news rescue mission into action. Jesus on the cross bore all our sin and took our punishment so that God’s judgement against our sinful rebellion could be fully satisfied forever! Remember that this good news plan was agreed on by the Father and Son in eternity past and flows out of God’s heart of love for the world. And having completed the once and for all sacrifice, the Father raised the Son to new life to demonstrate that our redemption price was paid in full and to offer us not only forgiveness but new and eternal and God glorifying life!
PASSAGE: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 - "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…"
PAUSE: The Apostle Paul wanted the early church to know the Gospel! For Paul, the Gospel begins with Christ dying on the cross for our sins. On the cross, Christ died for all our sins. The Gospel ends with Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Without the resurrection, our faith is futile and pointless.
PRAYER: Father, I believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Help me to share this good news with my family, friends, and neighbors this week.
