Luke 19:12-13
Have you ever stood by and watched while others were playing Monopoly, and then one of the players tells you to step in for them until they return? Some people get excited for the chance to fill in and make a big impact for the player. But others feel a sense of dread and worry. What if I buy the wrong property? What if I lose all their money? Even in a simple board game, we can feel the weight of responsibility when we're handling someone else's property. In this parable that Jesus tells in Luke 19, the master tells his servants to take his money and conduct business while he's gone. He doesn't give them a return timeframe or other instructions, but when he returns he expects to see a positive return. While we wait for Christ’s return, our purpose in life is to work for the Kingdom. Christ has commissioned us to be His servants, who serve Him faithfully and wisely until He returns.
PRAY: Lord Jesus, we await the day that you will return to establish your eternal kingdom here on this earth. Until that day, I pray that we will work faithfully for you and multiply what you have entrusted to us. Help us to serve you with wisdom and endurance until your return. Amen.
