Genesis 14:19-20

God’s infinitely generous blessings on us should result in our increasingly generous heart towards Him and His kingdom work! Our problem is that we so quickly take our eyes off JESUS and we forget about the abundance of our spiritual blessings in Christ. And we forget that all that we have does not belong to us but is a gift from His hand. We are not owners, we are stewards! And we forget that He is the Great Provider and He is going to take care of us! And when we attune our hearts and minds with these realities, we are set free to be generous givers to the causes of the Kingdom. This may be in the form of helping a neighbor in need or supporting a child in Honduras. It should always include regular, generous support of your local church! So, take some time before the Lord, count His many blessings, name them one by one. Then respond generously!

PASSAGE: Genesis 14:19-20 - “and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. 20 And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.”

PAUSE: Abram gave a tenth of everything. Faith is trusting the Lord with everything, including our finances. The average Christian in America offers about 2% of their wealth. The simple pause for all of us is this: do I trust the Lord with money or not? Abram trusted the Lord with his possessions 100%.  

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, grant me ongoing and priestly faith. I trust you with my finances today and endeavor to move towards a tenth!
