2 Peter 3:18
What is God’s grace? And how do you “grow in grace?” As I have studied the scope of how God’s grace is described in the New Testament, I would define grace this way: It is God’s abundant, freely given provision of His wisdom, power and resources for us to live a growing, transformative Christian life. God did not just save you then drop you. He equips us as part of His grace gift with His Holy Spirit, with spiritual gifts, with a new way of viewing life, with participation in the fellowship of the Body of Christ. And so we grow in grace when we learn to walk in the Spirit, when we serve with our spiritual gifts, when we exchange our old thoughts (lots of stinking thinking) with His thoughts (the mind of Christ), when we stop isolating and engage in deep, meaningful Christian fellowship. So friend, cultivate the life that causes you to grow up in His grace!
PASSAGE: 2 Peter 3:18 - But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
PAUSE: The last words of Peter encouraged the early Christians to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Grace and knowledge are two fundamental essentials that help us grow. The more we grow, the more we know!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I desire to know you better. Reveal to me something about your grace and mercy today. Speak loudly and clearly.
