Hebrews 3:13
No Lone Ranger Christianity!! One of the biggest mistakes that many Christians make, and this is particularly bad in the radical individualism of our modern culture, is trying to live out our faith all by ourselves. I remind you that when God saves a person, He saves them into a community of believers called the Church, the Body of Christ. And it is in that community that we are experiencing the key growth aspects of encouragement and accountability. And don’t miss that Hebrews 3:13 says that we need this giving and receiving of exhortation towards faithfulness EVERY DAY! Who are you doing life at this level with? How often? We need each other!
PASSAGE: Hebrews 3:13 - "But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."
PAUSE: From whom do you get that daily exhortation or encouragement? Every day our heart is prone to wander and drift away from following Christ. Growth spurts require a good friend to help us stay on course.
PRAYER: Father, protect my heart. Grant me a supportive relationship that will exhort me and encourage me when I start to drift away from you.
